To be effective as an Estate Agent, you need exceptional customer service skills. If you don’t, you won’t be able to build relationships with clients, vendors, or potential buyers. Each potential customer is different in terms of their needs, what their objections are, and what motivates them. A competent Estate Agent will be able to quickly establish what each of these things are, and communicate in a way that helps close the sale swiftly and to the best value.
I also believe confidence is essential for all good Estate Agents to possess. You need to be confident in the real estate you are selling, without being arrogant, and also demonstrating resilience if things get tough. I have excellent negotiation skills which I believe will benefit both the clients I will represent and enable me to navigate tough situations to get the best result for your organization.

I also believe it is critical to have a self-motivated drive and passion for sales. In the end of the day, it’s the Estate Agent’s role to manage clients who are looking to buy, sell, rent or lease property, either residential or commercial, and a strong drive and passion to hit targets, deadlines, and to make a sale can only be a good thing.

Undoubtably, Estate Agent’s will likely encounter situations where things don’t go to plan and therefore, they need to have great mediation and problem-solving skills. I am someone who works great under pressure and always remains calm.

An estate agent’s role is to manage clients who are looking to buy, sell, rent or lease property, either residential or commercial. The estate agent acts as a direct link between the purchaser, seller or landlord. They will be responsible for managing a large number of clients simultaneously. An estate agent will advise on helping set the value of a client’s home, if they are considering selling or renting property. A good estate agent will also be able to advise on how to best market your home and showcase this photographically, ensuring your property creates the optimum first impression on potential buyers/tenants. They will also commonly communicate with potential buyers/tenants in regards to suitable properties, and conduct viewings.

Preparing for an Estate Agent Interview – Your Questions Answered

Q1 – What to wear to an estate agent interview? The role of an estate agent is a customer facing role, so you would be required to make the right impression. The interviewer would expect to see candidates dressed smartly in professional suits, as if successful this would be the attire you would be expected to wear for the role. The suit should be work related, nothing too dazzling or bright, moderate colours, such as bark blue or grey would be suitable.

Q2 – How do I prepare for an estate agent interview? There are a number of things you can do to prepare sufficiently for your interview. Prepare well in advance, even before you have been invited for the interview. Research the estate agency, be familiar with the staff if they have profiles on their website, check if they have a speciality which they focus on. Prepare your own questions in advance to ask the interviewer at the end of the interview. Lastly and most importantly, study the job description in detail! The questions you will be asked will be based on this.

Q3 – Do estate agents get paid well? – It is estimated that estate agents make a an average of £41,392 per annum in the UK. Once experienced estate agents can be expected to earn between £50,000 to £100,000 per annum.

Q4 – Can I become an estate agent with no experience? There are no entry requirements required for the role. If you have had experience in a customer services, administration or sales role, this will be of benefit when applying for positions.

Q5 – Do I need qualifications to become an estate agent? Although no formal qualifications are required, there are a number of courses which focus on the role of an estate agent which could potentially enhance your chances of success. Experience in sales or customer service will also be advantageous.
