FAST INTERVIEW PREPARATION! (How to QUICKLY PREPARE for a JOB INTERVIEW! (INTERVIEW TIPS!)

Quickly prepare for a job interview with this essential guide! If you have an interview coming up in the next 24 hours, make sure you read this blog! I am going to teach you the fastest way to prepare – these tips and strategies will help you beat the competition and pass your job interview at the first attempt!

#1. The first thing to do when quickly preparing for a job interview is to RESEARCH THE COMPANY you are applying for.

This will make a massive difference to the outcome. Do the following 2 things:

#1. Visit their website and take a look at their ABOUT US page.

Find out what products and services they sell, the industry they are in, and familiarise yourself with their company values and mission.

#2. Follow them on their social media platforms to read about their latest news stories.

Researching the company will help you easily answer the interview questions, “why do you want to work here?” and “what do you know about our company?”.

#2. The second thing to do to prepare for a job interview in the fastest time possible is to THINK ABOUT YOUR ATTIRE!

Did you know, 95% of hiring managers will not hire someone if they make no effort in how they dress for the interview? Dressing smart and professionally tells the hiring manager three things:

  • You care about getting the job.
  • You want to make the right impression.
  • You have high personal standards.

Dress to impress – you won’t regret it!

#3. The third thing to do when quickly preparing for your job interview is to TAKE ACTION TO REDUCE NERVES AND ANXIETY.

80% of interview candidates fail their interviews because they are too nervous and they don’t perform to the best of their abilities!

Remember this before you attend the interview…an interview is nothing to worry about. An interview is just a two-way conversation between you and the hiring manager to see if you have the skills, competence and enthusiasm to do the job properly, and whether you will fit into their team. An interview is also designed to see whether you want to work for their company.

Think of an interview as just a meeting with a potential employer, and your nerves will reduce significantly.

#4. The fourth thing to do when preparing for an interview is to think about how you are going to answer the first question, “tell me about yourself”.

At the start of the interview, the hiring manager will say to you, welcome to the interview, please tell me about yourself!

The hiring manager will be assessing your communication skills. Therefore, it is imperative you give a confident answer. Make sure you practice your response several times before the interview.

Now, I recommend you talk about the following 4 things when answering the question, “tell me about yourself”.

  • The SKILLS you have that match the job description.
  • Your EDUCATION BACKGROUND and any EXPERIENCE you can bring to the role.
  • Any ACHIEVEMENTS you have attained in your life so far.
  • The TYPE OF PERSON you are and what you will do in the role.

Those four things stand for SEAT – Skills, Education and Experience, Achievements and Type of person you are – you can easily remember the SEAT structure for tell me about yourself because you will be sitting on a SEAT at your interview.

#5. The fifth thing to do to quickly prepare for your job interview is to look at the job description – if you do this, your chances of passing will literally skyrocket.

The job description usually comes with the job advert. On the job description, there will be a list of skills, strengths and qualities needed to do the job properly. Take note of the skills, strength and qualities and reference them in your answers to the interview questions:

  • What are your greatest strengths?
  • What makes you stand out from the other candidates?
  • Why should we hire you?

#6. The sixth thing to do to quickly prepare for your job interview is to PREPARE 3 QUESTIONS TO ASK THE HIRING MANAGER.

Now, at the end of your job interview, the hiring manager is going to say to you, “do you have any questions for us?”. 90% of candidates respond by saying “No, I don’t have any questions, you covered everything in the interview.”

That is huge mistake!

Asking smart and considered questions shows the hiring manager you want to do a great job for their company.

Here are the 3 best questions to ask at the end or you interview:

Q1. What would my success in the position look like in twelve months’ from now?

Q2. What opportunities would there be for training and eventually progression in the role?

Q3. Can you tell me more about the team I would be a part of in this role and their responsibilities.

#7. The seventh thing to do to prepare quickly for your job interview is to take with you a 30, 60 and 90 plan for the job role!

Now, at the end of your job interview, the hiring manager is going to say to you, “why should we hire you?”. This is one of the hardest questions to answer because you need to stand out! The way to stand out is to give them a 30, 60 and 90 day plan of action that tells them exactly what you will do in the role when they hire you! Let me give you a brilliant answer to the question, “why should we hire you?”, that incorporates this 30, 60 and 90 day plan…

WHY SHOULD WE HIRE YOU?

“You should hire me because I am strong match for the job description, am passionate about this work and industry and will give you a great return from my salary. To demonstrate this, I have created a 30, 60 and 90 day plan of action that tells you exactly what I will do in the role once I start work for your company, and I would like to give you a copy.”

#8. The eighth thing to do to quickly prepare for your job interview is to consider HOW YOU WILL ANSWER THE MOST COMMON INTERVIEW QUESTIONS.

During a job interview, the hiring manager will have a set of common questions that will ask you. Here is that list of questions;

  • Tell me about yourself.
  • Why do you want this job?
  • What are your strengths?
  • What’s your biggest weakness?
  • Why do you want to leave your job?
  • Where do you see yourself in five years?
  • Describe yourself in three words!
  • How would you deal with conflict with a co-worker?
  • What are you looking for in your next job?
  • Why should we hire you?
